Na-Ná

Ticket 300 MT

Funaná is a dance music practice that emerged on the island of Santiago, Cape Verde, within a post-slavery context at the end of the 19th century.

There are several versions about the origin of the name.

In one of them, it is said that there was a couple of players, Funa, who played the harmonica, and his partner Na-Ná.

In fact we do not have any records of Na-Ná, since the history of Funa is crystallized in an iconoclast of santiaguense masculinity and rurality.

Where is Na-Ná? Did he exist?

The future will be the answer…
